This policy explains what information MyStackApps collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the MyStackApps hub and every app in the suite: Note Stack, Invoice Stack, Attend Stack, Place Stack, Snippet Stack, Link Stack, Journal Stack, Renew Stack, and Task Stack. All of them share one account and one sign-in, so this single policy applies to all of them.
The short version
- We collect only what is needed to run your account and the apps you use.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.
- We do not sell your information or share it for marketing.
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information at any time.
Information we collect
Account information
Your first and last name, username, email address, and role. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash; we cannot see it.
Sign-in history
Each time you sign in, we record the time, your IP address, and an approximate location (city, region, and country) derived from that IP address. This helps you and us spot sign-ins that you do not recognize.
Content you add to the apps
Whatever you enter into an app is stored so the app can show it back to you. Depending on which apps you use, this can include notes and action items, clients and invoices, events and attendance records, saved places and addresses, code snippets, saved links, journal entries, and renewal records (including due dates, costs, notes, and reminder history), and tasks, projects, and lists. You control this content and can edit or delete it in each app.
Emails we send
We send account emails, such as welcome messages and password-reset links. We keep a record of these emails (recipient, subject, content, and delivery status) so we can troubleshoot delivery. Password-reset links expire and can be used only once. Renew Stack can also email renewal reminders to your account address, either as one daily digest or as a separate message for each reminder. Those messages include item names, due dates, and similar details you stored. We record which reminder was sent and when, so the same one is not sent twice. We do not keep a copy of the reminder message itself.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server automatically records basic request information such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting.
How we use your information
- To sign you in and keep you signed in across the apps.
- To provide the features of each app you use.
- To send account emails you need, such as password resets.
- To send Renew Stack reminder emails you have turned on.
- To protect accounts and the service from misuse.
We process your information because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, so we do not ask for cookie consent. We only store the following, which are needed for the apps to work or to remember your display preferences:
| Name | Used by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
stack_app (cookie) |
All apps | Keeps you signed in across the suite. | Until you sign out, or 1 year after your last visit |
| Notes sort order (cookie) | Note Stack | Remembers how you sort your notes. | 1 year |
notestack_tz (cookie) |
Note Stack | Remembers your time zone so dates display correctly. | 1 year |
notestack-full-width (local storage) |
Note Stack | Remembers whether you prefer the full-width layout. | Until you clear it |
place_map_collapsed_* (local storage) |
Place Stack | Remembers which map panels you collapsed. | Until you clear it |
You can clear these at any time in your browser settings. Clearing the stack_app
cookie signs you out.
Services that receive information
We use a small number of outside services to run the apps:
- Web hosting provider stores the apps, their databases, and server logs.
- Resend delivers account emails, so it receives your name, email address, and the email content.
- The web host's mail service delivers Renew Stack reminder emails, so it receives your email address and the reminder content.
- ipwho.is receives your IP address when you sign in, to look up the approximate location shown in your sign-in history.
- jsDelivr serves page styling and scripts for some apps, so your browser sends it your IP address when those pages load.
- OpenStreetMap and CARTO provide map images in Place Stack, so your browser sends them your IP address when a map loads.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim looks up coordinates for addresses you save in Place Stack. The address is sent from our server, not your browser.
- YouTube plays videos you embed in Journal Stack, using its privacy-enhanced mode. When a video loads, YouTube receives your IP address and may store data in your browser under its own policy.
We do not sell your information or share it with anyone for advertising or marketing.
How long we keep information
- Account information, sign-in history, and app content are kept while your account is active.
- When your account is deleted, its information is deleted, except where we must keep it for legal or security reasons.
- Password-reset links expire shortly after they are sent.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time by our hosting provider and then removed.
Security
Passwords are hashed, the sign-in cookie cannot be read by page scripts, and the site uses HTTPS so information is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- See the information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Correct information that is wrong. You can update your name, email, and password on your Profile page.
- Have your account and information deleted.
- Object to or limit how we use your information.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
